Principle: Mouthwashes are aqueous solutions with pleasant taste and odour used to clean deodorize the buccal cavity. They are very refreshing, particularly to bed-ridden patients.
Generally they contain antibacterial agents, alcohol, glycerin, sweetening agents and flavouring agents.
In this preparation thymol and borax used as antibacterial agents, alcohol as solvent, glycerin as sweetening agent, sodium bicarbonate can dissolve
- Procedure: Dissolve the required quantity of Thymol in alcohol. In
- another beaker dissolve borax and Sodium bicarbonate in water and mix the both solutions. Add glycerin and sufficient quantity of flavour mix well. Add the water to produce required volume.

- Storage: Store in a cool and dry place, away from children. Direction:'Dilute with an equal volume of warm water before use'. 'Not to be swallowed in large quantities'
