EFFERVESCENT GRANULES FORMULATION

  

  • Theory       
  • The mixture of citric acid and tartaric acid with sodium bicarbonate. Usually, a medicament is included and saccharin or sucrose may be added as a sweetening agent. When the patient dissolves the dose in water, the acids and bicarbonates react together producing carbonic acids, and preparation is taken during effervescence or immediately afterwards.
  • Procedure:
  • Time needed: 1 hour.
  • How to prepare effervescent granules?
  • 1. Sieve the powder
  • The powder was sifted through sieve no. 60
  • 2. Mix the powder
  • Mixed and transferred to a hot porcelain dish
  • 3. Heating
  • The mixture was heated on a boiling water bath without stirring or pressing the powder.
  • 4. Sieve through Sieve no 8
  • The resultant mixture was sieved through sieve no. 8.
  • 5. Dry the granules
  • Granules were dried at 40˚C.
  • 6. Use of Sieve number 14 and 20
  • Dried granules were passed through sieve no 14 and retained over sieve no 20.
  • 7. Fill in the container
  • The product was packed in a wide-mouth contain
  • Container / Storage:
  • Store in a cool and dry place
