The mixture of citric acid and tartaric acid with sodium bicarbonate. Usually, a medicament is included and saccharin or sucrose may be added as a sweetening agent. When the patient dissolves the dose in water, the acids and bicarbonates react together producing carbonic acids, and preparation is taken during effervescence or immediately afterwards.

How to prepare effervescent granules?
1. Sieve the powder
The powder was sifted through sieve no. 60
2. Mix the powder
Mixed and transferred to a hot porcelain dish
3. Heating
The mixture was heated on a boiling water bath without stirring or pressing the powder.
4. Sieve through Sieve no 8
The resultant mixture was sieved through sieve no. 8.
5. Dry the granules
Granules were dried at 40˚C.
6. Use of Sieve number 14 and 20
Dried granules were passed through sieve no 14 and retained over sieve no 20.
